When selecting an image for a page are thumbnails of images in the directory displayed?

Media Files are uploaded as individual objects and stored in a Media Library for future use.  The structure of the library is fully customisable through the CMS.  During upload, copies of the original image are created with set widths (e.g. 400, 200, 100, 70) allowing the user to select the most appropriate size when using them with a document.  The number of images created depends on the width of the original, as images are never stretched in order to maintain the aspect ratio.
