Saatchi & Saatchi and Box UK launch new Royal Navy Website
The launch of the redeveloped Royal Navy website was today announced by Saatchi & Saatchi Interactive ( http://www.saatchi.co.uk ) and Box UK ( http://www.boxuk.com ). Driven by Box UK’s Amaxus(R) XML content management system, the new global site at http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk offers over 70,000 documents and media files, and delivers millions of impressions every month.
Designed by the Saatchi & Saatchi Interactive team, the site offers a wide range of new and advanced features, including extended multimedia content.
The deployment of the state-of-the-art Amaxus system is critical to the performance of the redeveloped site. Amaxus is Box UK’s XML based content management system, facilitating the high-level management of documents, web resources and digital assets. It can also drive multiple intranets, extranets and websites and is currently powering websites for clients ranging from the NHS to Chubb.
According to Box UK project manager James Downes, Amaxus offers users a number of benefits: "Amaxus essentially manages the entire site. It makes the redeveloped content far more accessible to the Navy's own staff, enabling them to update information themselves, easily, as and when necessary."
The project was completed within three months and Amaxus provided the means to manage the successful migration of so many documents and files. As James Downes comments: "The content management is the main improvement on the Navy's previous site. This is a large website, with a lot of content. Amaxus permits far easier use and navigation."
Box UK was appointed following a four-way pitch. James is confident that it was able to offer something its rivals could not: "Amaxus was what set our pitch apart. The content management system we can provide is second to none, and that was clearly evident to our clients."
The collaboration between Box UK and Saatchi & Saatchi Interactive in this prestigious project makes an important contribution to driving forward the power of the Royal Navy brand.
