Distributing Web CMS content for off-page SEO
Most of the important Search Engine Optimization (SEO) ranking factors can be grouped into two main categories:
- On-Page Ranking Factors (basically: mark-up and content on your website)
- Off-Page Ranking Factors (who is linking to you, and how)
According to the ever-reliable seomoz, the top 3 most important factors are all off-page:
It’s therefore vital that your Web CMS does everything it can to distribute your content (with valuable incoming links) across other quality websites.
We’ve integrated numerous features into the Amaxus Web CMS to enable this:
- It’s important that incoming links work (obviously), are readable, and contain relevant keywords. Amaxus has sophisticated, editable, SEO-friendly URLs. To prevent broken links, it also versions all URLs (so that previous/old URLs can redirect), and allows the flagging of ‘permanent’ un-editable URLs.
- Once you’ve got great URLs set up, you need to distribute. The most obvious way is via RSS feeds: Amaxus can publish an unlimited number of RSS feeds from any list of content, as well as individual author and blog RSS feeds.
- Twitter is now a proven, stable communication tool for interacting with your customers and growing your network. As we’ve previously discussed, Amaxus can automatically publish CMS content as tweets.
- There may be a number of other channels that you want to push content to; such as Facebook pages, a YouTube channel or a Flickr pool. Using the Amaxus REST API, this integration is straightforward.
- A Social Bookmark block also allows your visitors to do the hard work for you, by easily sharing your content to other sites, including Delicious, Digg, Reddit, Facebook, StumbleUpon and Yahoo! Buzz.
