About The Amaxus Search Engine
Although it’s easy to see the utility and speed of the Amaxus search from a screencast or demonstration, it's more difficult to know what's happening behind the scenes, or what features are supported. With that in mind, we've put together a quick list for you about the Amaxus search engine:
- Search abstraction layer that enables different search systems to be plugged in
- Cross-platform, database-vendor-independent full text searching
- Comes with Apache Solr search: open source enterprise search server
- Wildcard searches using the ‘?’ and ‘*’ symbols
- Fuzzy searches (e.g. match words that lie within a certain Levenschtein Distance of the search term)
- Proximity searches (search for terms lying within a specific word-distance of each other)
- Range searches (find documents whose specific fields lie between a range of values)
- Term boosting
- Term grouping
- Boolean search operators, including AND, OR and NOT
- Searching is optimized for high volume Web traffic
- Enables searching by numeric types and unique keys in addition to text
- Distributed search with sharded index on multiple hosts
- Multiple search indices
- Search results can be sorted by any number of fields
- Result caching with ‘autowarming’
- Spelling suggestions for user queries
- ‘More Like This’ suggestions for given document
- Phonetic searching (e.g. for foreign languages)
